Tacoma Public Schools is reprinting almost 300 diplomas for 2025 and 2026 graduates of the Science and Math Institute after finding a typo on the document.
The Science and Math Institute diplomas for the two years spelled the word institute as “insitute,” according to a photo of a diploma that was obtained by The News Tribune. Tacoma Public Schools spokesperson Kathryn McCarthy said the district updated all high school diploma templates in 2025, but the vendor that the district works with to print the diplomas did not catch the mistake.
