Key Peninsula Fire commissioners voted to reject the latest offer from a gas station owner Tuesday for their property at 15610 Olson Dr. NW, ending months of negotiations amid a wave of opposition from many residents who’ve voiced their preference of seeing some other tenant fill the abandoned restaurant site.
The decision also leaves the door open for other offers, including from the Pierce County Library System and a group of residents who’ve opposed the gas station in favor of turning it into a park, small business, public services building or other idea supported by locals.
“We had received a proposal from the potential buyer … that basically agreed to most of the things that we had asked for,” Commissioner Stan Moffett said at the meeting. “But there were several things that that buyer did not agree to, namely the assignability of the contract, and … the timeline.”…
