Pierce County Parks and Recreation recently completed Phase 1 of its newest project, the Parkland Community Trail, and held a celebration to christen the occasion on Saturday near the Parkland Prairie Nature Preserve.
The Parkland Community Trail could be a distant second cousin to the larger, and much more varied and nature-filled, Foothills Trail, if you squint just right. At 1.4 miles long, Phase 1 of the Parkland Community Trail runs from Sprinker Recreation Center, north along South Yakima Avenue, before crossing a newly built pedestrian bridge over Clover Creek, and ending inside the Parkland Prairie Nature Preserve at Tule Lake Road South…
