The ad, organized by members of a Seahawks Reddit page, thanked Carroll for his 14 years as head coach after he and Seattle parted ways
Pete Carroll have given the city of Seattle a lot — and some Seattle Seahawks fans wanted to give back.
A group of Seahawks fans raised more than $10,000 to take out a full-page ad in Sunday’s Seattle Times to share their gratitude for Carroll, who was ousted from his role as head coach earlier this month. (Carroll will stay on as an advisor with the Seahawks.)
The ad, which includes a photo of Carroll after he and the Seahawks won Seattle’s first and only Super Bowl in 2014, shows gratitude for Carroll ushering in a culture of excellence.
“Thank you for an unforgettable 14 years. Your leadership, commitment, philosophy, and spirit have been a profound inspiration to the entire community of football fans,” the ad read.
“As you embark on your next journey know that your legacy here will forever be celebrated. Thank you for the best 14 years a city can ask for.”
