This popular restaurant in downtown Puyallup closed due to a fire. When will it reopen?

A Greek restaurant in downtown Puyallup might reopen this weekend after it closed due to an electrical fire.

Giorgio’s Greek Cafe & Pizzeria at 328 S. Meridian might welcome customers again Saturday, Feb. 3, if repair work goes well, owner Giorgio Dimakis told The News Tribune Tuesday.

On Jan. 17 a fire ignited in the wall by the kitchen light switch. Black smoke came from the room around 1:30 p.m., Dimakis said. Firefighters quickly put out the fire and crews tore down the wall, he said.

No one was injured. The cost of repairs is still “up in the air,” he said.

Giorgio’s has been serving the community for 10 years. The restaurant is known for its gyros and pizza.
