Man pleads guilty to federal charges in ‘brutal’ stabbing of his employer on JBLM

A Tacoma man pleaded guilty Monday to a “brutal” assault that critically injured another man within Joint Base Lewis-McChord boundaries in March 2023.

Shaun Lee Blue, 41, was working for the man as a day laborer. On March 19, they were working to remove an old trailer from a property in Eatonville. At the end of day the two met up at the Roy Y park-and-ride lot so that Blue could get paid for the work he had done, according to a Department of Justice news release.

Both men got out of their cars and argued. Blue pulled a knife and stabbed the man in the abdomen multiple times causing serious cuts to his intestines, colon and liver. Blue continued to stab the man even after he fell to the ground, the release said.

Blue drove away, and the man called 911 for help. The man was critically injured and taken to the hospital. He continues to recover from his significant injuries and multiple surgeries, the release said.

Blue was prosecuted in U.S. District Court in Tacoma because the JBLM property is in exclusive federal jurisdiction. He pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury, the release said.
