Series of Disturbing Events Rock Seattle Precincts on February 5, 2024

On February 5, 2024, multiple events took place in various Seattle precincts. Early in the morning, at 0545 hours, Southwest Precinct officers and the Seattle Fire Department responded to a car fire. A deceased person was found in the car, which had been abandoned for about a year and was frequently used by homeless individuals. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office took charge of the deceased, and the car was impounded.

Just before this, at 0509 hours, officers from the same precinct responded to reports of gunshots on the 8000 block of 12 Av Southwest. A car was heard leaving the scene quickly. Officers discovered three shell casings on the street, but no damage was reported.

Later, at 1633 hours, West Precinct officers responded to a shooting on Interstate 5. A male passenger in a car was shot by an unidentified person in a black SUV. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, and the unharmed driver could not describe the shooter. The Washington State Patrol took over the scene.
