With a week to go until a pivotal hearing in Kroger’s quest to acquire Boise-based Albertsons, the Ohio-based retailer is doubling down on a promise to lower prices. Last week, Kroger said it would up its commitment to lowering prices if the deal goes through by $1 billion over four years, instead of the previous pledge of $500-million.
