A 40-year-old suspect was arrested Friday, Dec. 13, for allegedly shooting at a Tacoma Public Schools patrol officer in July, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
The arrest occurred at approximately 9 a.m. and involved members of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, Special Investigations Unit, and the South Sound Regional Gang Task Force.
Authorities confirmed the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The shooting happened in July when a patrol officer interrupted a drug transaction on school property between the suspect and several loiterers.
The suspect reportedly opened fire but did not injure the officer.
The suspect has been booked on one count of attempted murder.
Authorities did not provide further details about the arrest but emphasized the collaborative effort between multiple law enforcement agencies to bring the suspect into custody.
