Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad is asking for the community’s help in identifying an individual who aimed to destroy the railroad’s historic equipment.
The subject reportedly entered the railroad’s property after hours on Sunday, Dec. 22, and again on Monday, Dec. 23, “with expressed intent to cause significant harm to our equipment,” Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad said in a Facebook post on Dec. 24. “This individual was clearly unprepared to meet our night watchman, who interrupted their actions” on Dec. 22.
The railroad stated that the subject “seemed to have a clear agenda against corporations and railroads,” which the railroad called “particularly concerning,” especially since the subject returned to Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad property on Dec. 23.
“If you have any information about this incident, we urge you to contact us directly or reach out to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office,” Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad stated. “Any tips, no matter how small, could help prevent future harm and ensure the safety of our passengers, volunteers, staff, and historic equipment.”
