GIG HARBOR, Wash — In a backyard shed converted into a studio, we met Gig Harbor artist Steve Hammond, hunched over a table and working on his latest scratchboard portrait.
“Most people have never heard of scratchboard,” Hammond said. “Never heard of it. Most people think they’re photographs. And people do get confused. They think it’s a photograph. But it’s not.”
