Seattle Fire crews battle large Central District fire overnight

A fire broke out overnight in a home within Seattle’s Central District neighborhood, the Seattle Fire Department confirmed.

SFD was first informed of the fire at 11:23 p.m., coming from a two-story home on S. Massachusetts Street. Fire crews battled the flames until just around midnight Tuesday. The fire was intense enough that neighboring homes needed to be evacuated.

“Engine 6 was the first unit on scene, and they reported flames visible through multiple windows of the entire building,” Seattle Fire reported. “Forcing crews to establish a defensive position by putting water on the fire at a safe distance away from the building.”
