Historic Steilacoom spot revives history with tasty traditions

STEILACOOM, Wash. — We’ve come to The Bair for a taste of the sweet life at a historic and friendly eatery owned by Sara Munsch.

“I want people to feel comfortable here,” she said. “I want them to feel like if they’re having a bad day, they can come in and hopefully they leave here with a smile on their face.”

The Bair has been a gathering place for the Steilacoom community since 1895 when Jane Bair’s grandfather built the structure that would the post office, soda fountain and pharmacy in what was then a boomtown…
