Playground at popular Tacoma park to remain closed this summer for repairs

Parks Tacoma officials will keep the playground at Wright Park closed for three more months after an inspection earlier this year revealed rotting support posts at the base of the play structure.

Terry Jungman, Parks Tacoma’s capital improvement program manager, said in a news release that the inspection team was surprised to find the posts were rotting because the rest of the structure was in good condition. Construction on the project will begin this summer and last three months, according to Parks Tacoma.

The playground has been closed since February, and the repairs will cost $150,000, the release states…
