From all aspects, Juneteenth 2025 in Tacoma was a big hit with crowds estimated at nearly double the number from last year. Approximately 20,000 people went to Stewart Heights Park on June 19 to enjoy the holiday with great live music from national recording artists and local favorites, tasty food from more than 30 food trucks, 150-plus vendors, local leaders speaking and, most of all, to enjoy the power of community.
The largest Juneteenth celebration in Washington state, Tacoma gets to host it thanks to funding from the city of Tacoma, generous supportive sponsors, and JD Davis, the event founder. It takes all kinds of community partners and volunteers to pull it all off, so everyone who contributed is due a world of gratitude.
“It was a great event with a great number of participants and always, the best thing is the love you feel and the happiness of everyone,” Davis told the Tacoma Weekly. “You see so many smiles and hugs, laughter and all that happening throughout the day. It’s the greatest feeling ever – one big, family reunion.”…
