Man shot, killed by Pierce County deputy during confrontation in Parkland

A man was fatally shot by a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy Monday afternoon in Parkland after deputies were dispatched for a report of a suspicious person who appeared to be trying to set a building on fire.

No deputies were hurt during the shooting, which occurred at about 5 p.m. in the 11200 block of C Street South, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office and the Pierce County Force Investigation Team.

Deputies responded at 4:21 p.m. to a report of a man who was allegedly involved in previous burglaries breaking and throwing objects, and then trying to light a building on fire, sheriff’s office spokesperson Carly Cappetto said…
