A 41-year-old Tacoma man died Sunday evening while fleeing from Yelm police when he lost control of his vehicle, struck another driver on state Route 507 and was ejected, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The State Patrol identified the deceased as Jeremy L. Stahl. Two people in the vehicle not involved in the pursuit, a man and a woman from Salem, Oregon, were injured and taken to local hospitals.
Trooper John Dattilo said in a social media post that a Yelm Police Department officer saw the man speeding at about 80 mph in a 50 mph zone on Vail Road near Yelm. The driver fled when the officer initiated a traffic stop. The pursuit turned onto northbound state Route 507 and continued into Pierce County.
Stahl, driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was approaching 312th Street South, about 5 miles north of Yelm when the collision occurred, according to a State Patrol press memo. Stahl crossed into southbound lanes and struck a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 occupied by two people…
