In case you missed it, on July 23, Pierce County, City of Tacoma, Washington State Department of Commerce and the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) celebrated the grand opening of a new tiny home village in South Tacoma that will offer 60 units of affordable housing to people experiencing homelessness and living near public rights-of-ways, like highways, on- or off-ramps, under bridges, and more.
“Projects like Kingfisher Village are helping hundreds of people in our county transition out of homelessness. Tiny homes work,” said Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello. “Residents have access to 24/7 supportive services like case management, health care, employment, and more. The data is clear that the combination of a safe place to call home and services to help people heal is helping people on their path to self-sufficiency.”
