In Pierce County, the Assessor-Treasurer’s office is banding together with local organizations to give a modicum of relief to some of its most financially strapped residents. They’re rolling out free Property Tax Exemption Seminars, an initiative designed to inform low-income seniors and people with disabilities about possible tax breaks.
These seminars, a collaboration with the South Sound Housing Affordability Partners (SSHA³P) and Pierce County Human Services, offer an avenue for understanding an often complex Property Tax Exemption program. “We are proud to offer the Property Tax Exemption program,” said Assessor-Treasurer Marty Campbell, in a statement made by Pierce County. He emphasizes the program’s commitment to “accessibility, equity and respect” for those who may benefit from the exemption.
Further support is also at the seminars, with Human Services Department staff presenting information on veterans’ support and aging and disability resources, as per Pierce County.
