City of Tacoma Seeks Applicants for Police Advisory Committee to Enhance Department Transparency and Community Engagement

The City of Tacoma is calling for applications to fill six positions within its Community’s Police Advisory Committee (CPAC), targeting representation from Council District Nos. 1, 4, and 5; a dedicated youth position for those aged 16-18, and two at-large positions. This volunteer committee serves as a consultative body to the city council on matters related to the policies and procedures of the Tacoma Police Department (TPD).

According to the City of Tacoma, the committee’s tasks include reviewing the TPD’s policies, rules, and training programs, streamlining the public complaint process, and facilitating dialogue between the police department and community members. The advisory panel is also tasked with providing recommendations to the city council, the city manager, and the chief of police on various police-related issues.

Applicants interested in these positions must be Tacoma residents who do not currently hold any other elective public office and must not be employed by the TPD or closely related to any of the department’s personnel.
