Sheriff’s office says drivers are taking advantage of ‘next to no traffic enforcement’

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — At a round table meeting to discuss traffic safety, Pierce County leaders got a grim warning from the head of the sheriff’s office traffic unit.

Sgt. Shaun Darby told the panel that the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is so short-staffed that there is little, if any, proactive traffic enforcement happening in the areas they serve.
