The Making a Difference Foundation’s food bank, Eloise’s Cooking Pot, is launching a one-time emergency food-delivery service for families in King and Pierce counties who are unable to travel to their local food bank.
The announcement comes in response to rising food insecurity due to the recent federal government shutdown and, with it, the significant reduction of SNAP benefits on which roughly 500,000 Washington households rely.
“Our community is facing an unprecedented strain on food resources,” said Ahndrea Blue, Making a Difference Foundation’s president and CEO, in a press release. “We know many families are suddenly seeking help for the first time — and we want to ensure no one who cannot physically reach our onsite food bank is left behind. This one-time delivery service is our urgent response.”…
