Tacoma police will not be implementing ‘ShotSpotter’ technology

TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma Police Department has abandoned plans to implement a trial run of a gunshot detection system in a neighborhood that has faced challenges with crime.

This comes about a year and a half after the police department announced that the technology could be a tool used to increase public safety and help them respond more efficiently to violent crime.
