Pedestrian struck by car, dies after attempting to cross highway

A 79-year-old Puyallup woman who was hit by a car after attempting to cross state Route 162 in McMillin on Nov. 29 died at the scene, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

According to state troopers, the woman — whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin — had “attempted to cross from the westbound lane to the eastbound lane.”

A 2010 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Aaron L. Blondin, 39, of Ashford, was traveling eastbound on the highway, approaching 132nd Street East, when it struck the woman at about 5 p.m., according to troopers…
