Large-Scale Rehabilitation Project Kicks Off in Tacoma’s Hilltop, Eastside Neighborhoods

The Tacoma Housing Authority announced earlier this week that it has secured new funding to rehabilitate 316 of its existing affordable-housing units, which represent more than 1,000 residents.

The residents of the decades-old northwest Salishan and Hillside Terrace 2300 properties will see their units updated over a two-year period due to the $150 million effort, a release said.

Of the 316 units, 55% include children, and 73% are considered extremely low income with an average annual household income of $28,918, the release continued…
