Relentless storms shut down SR 167 and lead to evacuations in Auburn

AUBURN, Wash. — A new wave of heavy rain pushed across Western Washington on Monday as communities already inundated by days of flooding faced more evacuations, closed highways, and the threat of two additional storm systems forecast to arrive through midweek.

In Auburn, nearly 1,000 residents living west of the Green River were ordered to evacuate late Sunday as rising floodwaters inundated neighborhoods, overwhelmed mitigation systems, and pushed the region to levels not seen in decades.
