Tacoma police searching for vehicle of interest in death of WSP Trooper

WASHINGTON – The Tacoma Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a vehicle of interest in a fatal crash that ended in the death of a Washington State Trooper.

Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting, 29, was standing outside of her vehicle in the southbound lanes of SR 509 in Tacoma investigating a crash when she was hit by what investigators said may be two vehicles Friday night.

The trooper was hit around 7:22 p.m. Investigators said Trooper Guting was hit by a vehicle and thrown into the right southbound travel lane of SR 509. The impact caused her to be unable to move, investigators said. They now believe a short time later, a dark colored pickup truck then hit Trooper Guting, and continued to drive off from the scene…
