Renovation work on Point Defiance Park’s Loop Trail is halfway complete, Parks Tacoma recently shared in a press release.
The Loop Trail connects visitors from the Wilson Way Bridge, the Pagoda, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, the Environmental Learning Center, and Owen Beach over the course of 1.6 miles of trail. Beginning in June 2025, construction is expected to be finished sometime in the early summer of this year.
A redesign of the Loop Trail has also allowed for fewer trees to be removed, with only 48 trees being cut down versus the original 64. Parks Tacoma plans to plant 175 trees and more than 2,200 native shrubs in the trail in the coming months…
