AUBURN, Wash. — The mayor of Auburn praised students who walked out of school Friday to protest federal immigration enforcement, calling their actions a meaningful example of peaceful civic engagement.
It’s unclear if the walkout was district-wide. Still, hundreds of students gathered outside Auburn City Hall as part of a larger statewide protest tied to immigration enforcement efforts in Washington and across the United States, according to the mayor’s statement.
