Students and other members of the Franklin Pierce School District community rallied and marched Wednesday to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions around the nation.
Several hundred people walked the streets in the vicinity of Franklin Pierce High School, 11002 18th Ave. E. in the Parkland area, during the late morning. Some carried signs with anti-ICE messaging. Others had signs with pro-immigrant messaging. A number of Mexican flags also were displayed, according to photographs shared with The News Tribune by participants.
“Due to the recent disgusting events ICE has been conducting, my school has decided to protest,” student Evan Velazquez told The News Tribune prior to the march. “We are a majority Latino/Hispanic school, so we expect a big turnout.”…
