Keith Swank unapologetic for remarks on proposed sheriff oversight bill

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A proposal to set eligibility requirements for elected sheriffs and police chiefs in Washington took another step forward this week, moving from the Senate Committee on Ways and Means to the Rules Committee, where it will be considered for a full vote by the Senate.

Senate Bill 5974 would subject law enforcement leaders to accountability and professionalism standards, including a review of their social media, and give the state the ability to decertify sheriffs who are found in violation.
