A Tacoma man remained in custody Friday after he was arrested for allegedly using approximately $8,000 worth of fake checks to buy lumber from stores in Centralia and Tumwater.
Stewart M. Riggs, 57, was booked into the Lewis County Jail at about 5:58 p.m. Feb. 10. He made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Riggs faces two counts of forgery, two counts of second-degree theft and one count of second-degree trafficking in stolen property. All are considered Class C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines…
