TACOMA, Wash. — The city of Tacoma swore in Patti Jackson as its first permanent female police chief as she outlined her goals for the department, from tackling violent crime to boosting officer numbers.
The city council approved her appointment in early February. In front of a packed room on Thursday afternoon, she said she is focused on building public trust in the police department.
