Puyallup bar closes for St. Patrick’s Day, citing DUI concerns

PUYALLUP, Wash. — On one of the busiest drinking days of the year, a popular downtown Puyallup bar is choosing to close its doors. Not because it has to, but because the owner says it’s the responsible thing to do.

Bumpy’s Pub will be closed on St. Patrick’s Day and the following day, reopening March 19. Owner Brooklyn Smith says the decision is rooted in concerns about drunk driving and a growing expectation that bars play a role in preventing it.
