Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Chosen for Major Housing Project

Pierce County announced in a press release this week that it’s chosen Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity to build up to 28 homes at 200th Street East and Knoble Road East that will be priced at about half the area’s current median home price.

Pierce County will help convert 4.22 acres of public land for the project, which is called Frederickson South and will encompass houses between $220,000-320,000.

“By unlocking the potential of underutilized public land and strategically funding these developments, we are moving beyond just ‘talking’ about affordability,” Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello said in the release. “We are actively creating pathways for homeownership that empower local families to build their futures, invest in their communities, and stay right here in Pierce County.”…
