Gig Harbor crews remove ‘love locks’ from North Creek bridge after safety inspection

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — City officials in Gig Harbor said they removed hundreds of “love locks” from a popular pedestrian bridge near downtown after inspectors raised safety concerns.

The city’s public works director said the locks — commonly seen as symbols of love and commitment on bridges around the world — had been accumulating since the structure over North Creek was built in 2013.
