City of Des Moines to restore expanded animal control services starting April 1

The City of Des Moines announced this week that it will restore expanded animal control services beginning April 1, 2026, through a new partnership with CARES.

The updated services will include 24-hour emergency response, animal cruelty and criminal investigations and proactive animal control efforts led by a dedicated officer.
