A GRANDMOTHER accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot that killed her former son-in-law stared blankly during a court appearance on Monday that saw her removed from isolation.
Donna Adelson hired a new attorney to represent her on charges related to the 2014 killing of Dan Merkel.
Adelson, 73, hired Miami defense attorney and former federal prosecutor, Daniel Rashbaum, along with Tallahassee defense lawyer, Alex Morris.
Rashbaum was the lead attorney for Adelson’s son, Charlie, who was convicted of murdering Markel on November 6, 2023, following an eight-day trial.
There was a conflict of interest in the decision due to Rashbaum’s previous representation of Charlie Adelson, however, the parties were allowed to waive any possible conflicts, which they did.
