Explosion alerts to house fire

Heather Ainsley ECB Publishing, Inc. On Friday, Jan. 19, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a neighbor alerted rescue officials about a house fire located on Old Lloyd Rd. According to the fire report, Jefferson County Fire Rescue (JCFR) and Lloyd Volunteer Fire Department (Lloyd VFD) responded with Engine 1, Tanker 1, Squad 1, Rescue 36, Chief, and Tanker 5. Upon arrival, the fire rescue teams discovered that the home, a single story structure, was completely engulfed in flames. Fire rescue teams immediately got to work extinguishing the blaze, and used approximately 6,000 gallons of water over the course of two hours and 23 minutes to control the fire.
