Charlotte School Board members meet with lawmakers in Tallahassee

Members of the Charlotte County School Board met with lawmakers in Tallahassee recently.

Cara Reynolds, John LeClair, Kim Amontree and Wendy Atkinson were among more than 125 school board members and other education leaders who gathered on Jan. 17-18 for the 37th Annual Day in the Legislature.

The annual event, aimed at connecting local school leaders with state elected officials, is hosted by the Florida School Boards Association.

It kicked off with a briefing session on the status of education-related bills and funding proposals the Legislature is considering.

“This included updates on the status of the highly impactful deregulation bills moving through the Senate,” stated a news release from Charlotte County Public Schools.

The next day, board members met with Reps. Robin Bartleman and Ralph Massullo for a conversation about key issues.

They also got to visit the Capitol, meet their respective legislative delegation and attend legislative committee meetings.

Charlotte board members met with Reps. Spencer Roach and Michael Grant and Sen. Ben Albritton.
