The School of Nursing (SON) at Florida A&M University (FAMU) reported a 96.55 percent first-time pass rate for its spring 2023 graduates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Following this, the Florida Board of Nursing ended the SON’s two-year probation. FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., commended the graduates and the team effort that led to the high pass rate.

In 2023, FAMU’s overall annual NCLEX score was 82.46 percent. This includes two SON graduates who took the exam one to two years post-graduation. Allyson Watson, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost, credited the success to effective strategies and support systems.

The NCLEX tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for safe and effective entry-level nursing practice. Watson stressed the university’s dedication to training nursing professionals and promoting academic excellence and student success.

Brian Lamb, Chair of the Florida Board of Governors, applauded the end of the SON’s probation and the high pass rate. He recognized FAMU’s progress in fields like nursing and its role in preparing students for future high-impact jobs.
