ORLANDO – Florida State coach Mike Norvell and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei met for the first time during ACC Kickoff in Charlotte back in 2022. The Seminoles and Uiagalelei’s team at the time, Clemson, were slated to play later in the year in what would prove to be a pivotal game in the ACC standings (Clemson won 34-28 and Uiagalelei played one of his best games as a Tiger, throwing for three touchdowns while running for another). But at the forefront of Uiagalelei’s mind when he met Norvell was to as him about Winston Wright, a West Virginia transfer receiver who had suffered a serious leg injury in a car accident earlier that spring not long after transferring to FSU.
