Laura Young ECB Publishing, Inc. On Monday, Feb. 12, at approximately 6:35 p.m., a fatal single-car crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 90 and Old Lloyd Rd. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that a 31-year-old Monticello man was driving a sport utility vehicle westbound on U.S. 90, east of Old Lloyd Road. He lost control and exited the north side of the roadway, where the vehicle collided with a power pole and then a fence, ultimately coming to rest in a field. The driver, who has been identified as Brandon Nelson Rice, was pronounced deceased on scene. FHP was assisted at the scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Fire Rescue and Tri-County Ele.
