Beginning beekeeping class will cover equipment, honey harvesting

An Introduction to beekeeping course will be held on Feb. 24 at the UF/IFAS Wakulla County Extension Office, 84 Cedar Avenue, Crawfordville.

It is sponsored by the Apalachee Beekeepers Association and is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in beekeeping, covering the essential topics to get started in beekeeping.

Topics will include fundamental of beekeeping, beekeeping equipment, hive management and honey harvesting. Participants will get hands on understanding with an open hive demonstration.

Classes will be taught by experience beekeepers and begin at 8:30 a.m. and run to 4 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. The course cost is $75, and $45 for each additional family member.
