Gregory Xavier Thomas came to Florida State’s Elite Camp last June as a relative unknown. The South Florida DB had been to FSU before, to youth camps, but this was different. “Zae” didn’t have a profile built at any recruiting network and his lone offer was Western Kentucky. Florida State’s staff, spearheaded by Patrick Surtain and his connections within Broward County, obviously knew of Thomas or he wouldn’t have made his way to the Elite Camp (which features a truncated amount of recruits each year).
