Wisconsin Falls Short in Pursuit of Top 2025 RB Target

Wisconsin football came up short in the race for a top running back target in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Bryon Louis, a four-star tailback, announced his commitment to Florida State over Wisconsin, Miami, and Georgia, who he listed in his top four in August.

Louis is rated as the No. 221 player in the country, the No. 17 running back, and the No. 35 player in Florida.

Wisconsin was a consistent player in Louis’ recruitment, competing with some high-profile programs. The Badgers staff put all their eggs in Louis’s basket, canceling official visits with other running back targets before Louis made his way to Madison on June 7th. Director of Recruiting Pat Lambert made one last swing at Louis this week, taking a trip to American Heritage High School, but the Seminoles came out on top.

UW will now go without a running back commit in the 2025 cycle, but considering the haul of talent they brought in during the 2024 cycle, that shouldn’t be a huge concern. True freshmen Darrion Dupree and Dilin Jones have both made early appearances. Dupree has recorded 14 carries for 48 yards, while Jones has logged four carries for 14 yards. The Badgers also have Gideon Ituka waiting in the wings, leaving the running back room in good shape with young talent.
