Tallahassee prepared for what became the deadliest hurricane since Katrina but was narrowly spared in a slight shift east to the Appalachians and Florida Gulf Coast. Florida State closed on Sept. 25, shortly after Tallahassee State College (TSC) and Florida A&M University (FAMU) announced on Sept. 24 that classes were canceled beginning that same day.
