Amazon says it’s hiring 12,000 seasonal workers in Florida; Tallahassee hiring unclear

Amazon is hiring approximately 12,000 seasonal employees for this upcoming holiday season. Several sites will swell by the thousands: 2,000 employees in South Florida, 2,000 employees in Jacksonville, 1,000 employees in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, 1,000 employees in Lakeland and Winter Haven and 1,000 employees in Palm Bay, Melbourne and Titusville.

It’s not clear how many new seasonal hires will be made at Tallahassee’s fulfilment center on Mahan Drive that’s been open for more than a year. The e-commerce giant only provided statewide numbers on its employment plans for the holiday season: “Unfortunately, we don’t have local numbers for Tallahassee this time around but wanted to share the overall state numbers,” the spokesman said, in an email to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Located on Mahan Drive, Amazon opened its robotic fulfillment center a year ago and now employs more than 2,000 employees at the location and an additional 300 at the delivery station near Capital Circle Northwest.
