A well-frequented Denny’s restaurant in Midway, Florida, known for its breakfast classics, was recently forced to close temporarily following a state health inspection. This Denny’s, located on 32670 Blue Star Highway, has long been a popular choice, with over 1,800 reviews and a rating of 3.7 out of 5 on Google.
The October 29 inspection by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation uncovered seven violations, ranging from minor cleanliness issues to more serious food safety concerns. Basic violations included dusty ceiling vents in the cooking area, an employee’s cell phone left on a prep table, a dirty floor, and heavy grease buildup on the hood system.
However, it was the high-priority violations that led to the temporary closure. Inspectors noted employees walking through areas with raw sewage between the kitchen and dining room, improper food storage temperatures for items like lettuce, ham, and cheese, which resulted in a stop-sale order, and prepared foods such as chorizo and egg wash that had been held beyond the four-hour safety limit.
