For the first time, Tallahassee is slated to host the largest conference gathering of executives and industry leaders specializing in motors, drives, systems and magnetics.
The 2025 Motor, Drive Systems and Magnetics (MDSM) Conference and Exhibition takes place Feb. 18-20 at the Tucker Civic Center. It’s a prime opportunity to showcase the growing magnetic ecosystem taking root in the capital, said Keith Bowers, who heads Leon County’s Office of Economic Vitality.
“The importance of this conference being in our community is that it’s going to bring 400-plus professionals, researchers and engineers that are involved in motor drive systems and magnetics to our community,” Bowers said.
The MDSM conference typically takes place in Orlando. After Bowers and his team attended a previous conference and talked up the growing magnetic presence in Tallahassee, discussions ignited interest and curiosity here.
“We were talking to the organizer, asking them, ‘Have you guys ever considered looking at Tallahassee because we’re home to the largest research magnet,’ ” Bowers said. “They were very familiar with Tallahassee and the assets that we have here in our community.”
